Here’s a novel take on a classic: a lighter, healthier pasta dish topped with pieces of hot sausage. Find out whether your grocery store has pre-packaged hot Italian turkey sausage; if not, plain turkey sausages will do, particularly for individuals who aren’t lovers of spicy foods.
When compared to pig sausage, turkey sausage has around half the number of calories but retains all of its deliciousness. Just as delicious as ever.
Imagine how tasty it would be to bite into a wheat roll slathered in spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese, stuffed with a spicy turkish sausage, and surrounded by lettuce, olives, and shredded mozzarella. Mmm, delicious!

Tools Required
- a sausage-cooking pan or skillet
Noodle boiling pot with strainer colander
Contents (6 portions)
One pound of spicy, lean Italian turkey sausage
Vegetables, 1 box Penne spaghetti topped with olives from a can
- lettuce for a salad – some healthy Italian salad dressing
- Grated Parmesan
- Veggies and other salad fixings
Parsley: 1 bunch - Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Oil or spray that won’t smoke when used for seasoning a skillet. spices like pepper and garlic powder
Prepare a sandwich using the following ingredients from your leftover turkey and sausage:
- 1 can of spaghetti sauce – 1 whole wheat loaf of bread roll
To prepare the sausages, coat a pan with nonstick spray and heat it over medium heat. Turn sausages with a fork and tongs every three to four minutes to ensure even cooking. The sausages will need around 20 minutes in the oven.
Follow the instructions on the pasta packaging and have a pot of water boiling. If you want things spicy, sprinkle on some seasoned salt.
Third, prepare the lettuce and other salad ingredients by washing and chopping them. Parsley, which will be added to the spaghetti, should also be finely chopped.
When the water is at a rolling boil, toss in the full box of vegetarian Penne pasta. Allow to boil for 6-7 minutes, stirring regularly (package will provide exact cooking time).
Browning the turkey sausages on both sides is a must before serving. Carefully slicing one in half will reveal the inner readiness of the others. Keep cooking until you attain the level of health you want.
Six, cut the cooked sausages into bite-sized pieces and add them to the spaghetti. When combined to a serving of spaghetti, you could discover that just three-quarters of a sausage is sufficient.
7 Use a colander to drain the pasta after it’s done cooking. Olives & finely chopped parsley should be combined and stirred in.
- Place a serving of pasta and sausage on a platter, sprinkle with parmesan and mozzarella cheese, and serve with your homemade salad.
Leftover Meal Inspiration: I had some of yesterday’s for lunch and it was so tasty I didn’t even need to heat it up. Once everything is done cooking, these turkey bacon sandwiches can be assembled in under a minute. This is how they work.
Slice in halves (not all the way through) a fresh whole wheat bun from the bread area of the supermarket so that it arches like a mouth. Spread a generous quantity of spaghetti sauce on the inside of each side and top with grated parmesan. Put the lettuce in now if you want it. Cut the sausage into bite-sized pieces by making diagonal slices 3/4 of its length through, then stuff it into the roll. Finally, top with shredded mozzarella cheese, cover in foil, and you have tomorrow’s lunch all set to go!
